The Arc Southwest Indiana was founded in 1963 to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families across Gibson, Pike, and Posey counties. Over the years, the organization has grown from a small group of advocates into a comprehensive service provider offering residential supports, day services, employment programs, transportation, and community integration opportunities.
As needs in the region expanded, so did The Arc’s commitment to person-centered care. Programs such as Day Services, Lifeskills, Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), Employment Services, Residential and Waiver Services and various community-based initiatives were added to help individuals develop independence, build meaningful relationships, and pursue competitive employment.
The Arc Southwest Indiana also works closely with local partners, schools, businesses, and government agencies to promote inclusion and protect the rights of people with disabilities. Through advocacy, education, and dedicated support, the organization continues to advance its mission: ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to live, work, and thrive in the community of their choice.
